Marc Guehi ‘Great Signing’ for Arsenal or Tottenham – John Barnes

Date:

Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that former Chelsea player Marc Guehi would be a ‘great signing’ for either Arsenal or Tottenham. Guehi has had an impressive season for Crystal Palace and has been called up multiple times by Gareth Southgate for England. This has led to speculation that Arsenal may be interested in signing him due to concerns over William Saliba’s back injury, while Spurs are also reportedly interested. Chelsea have a first-refusal clause in Guehi’s contract which becomes active in the summer.

Barnes believes that Guehi would be a wise signing for the north London clubs, citing his technical ability on the ball, quickness, decent aerial ability and good attitude as reasons why. However, Crystal Palace are unlikely to let their star defender go, having bought him for £18 million and with three years left to run on his contract. He has also been earmarked as the club’s future captain, having regularly worn the armband this season.

Tottenham will get a chance to see Guehi in action first-hand on Saturday when they host Palace in a game that they must win to keep any hope of finishing in the top four.
