Marc Cucurella to Man City on verge of collapse with Brighton asking for £50million as Arsenal wait to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko

Manchester City have told Brighton they are not willing to meet the £50million asking price for Marc Cucurella, talkSPORT understands.

City have had an initial £30m bid for Seagulls left-back Cucurella rejected.

Brighton are not actively seeking to sell the Spain international this summer.

City full-back Zinchenko is set to join Arsenal in a deal worth £32million – and the Premier League champions have already turned their attention to a replacement for the Ukrainian.

Zinchenko to Arsenal is all-but done and City’s struggle to land their first-choice alternative is not expected to cause a delay.

Cucurella is highly-rated by City boss Pep Guardiola, having been voted Players’ Player of the Season and Player of the Season at Brighton’s end of season awards last term.

The 23-year-old signed for the Seagulls from Getafe on a five-year contract in August 2021 and immediately settled in the Premier League.

He made headlines for bursting into tears after netting his first Seagulls goal during a 4-0 victory over Manchester United in May.

Explaining the celebration, Cucurella said: “Coming here was difficult in the summer, a new league, new country and new language.

“It is now very exciting for me and my family; when we came, my son was 10 days old. He travelled with me when I changed my city. It is very special.”
