Alex Crook gives us the inside info on potential Premier League comings and goings in January in his latest talkSPORT Transfer Notebook…
Manchester United want David De Gea to take a huge pay cut to sign a new multi-year deal.
De Gea’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Red Devils are reluctant to exercise their one-year option on the Spaniard’s current salary of more than £350,000-a-week.
United hope by offering the 32-year-old a longer deal he will be persuaded to slash his pay to nearer £200,000-a-week.
It comes as manager Erik Ten Hag is looking to introduce a salary cap to create a stronger dressing room culture at Old Trafford.
De Gea, who joined United in 2011, is understood to be monitoring Jan Oblak’s situation at old club Atletico Madrid before deciding his future.
Clubs circle for Walker-Peters
Manchester United and Chelsea are among the club circling for Southampton contract rebel Kyle Walker-Peters.
talkSPORT understands Walker-Peters, 25, is pushing for a move away from the south coast after stalling on signing a new deal.

United have shortlisted Walker-Peters as a possible replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who could be allowed to leave this month.
Chelsea are also on the lookout for right-back cover due to Reece James’ recent injury problems.
Walker-Peters’ old club Tottenham are also keeping tabs on his situation.
The England international was one of Saints’ standout performers in a difficult 2022, but the club’s hierarchy are aware they face a battle to keep him.
Forest target Brazilian winger
Nottingham Forest’s signing spree shows no signs of ending with Brazilian winger Tete the next player in their radar.
Tete is technically still a Shakhtar Donetsk player but has spent the last six months on loan at Lyon due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The 22-year-old is open to a January move to the Premier League with Forest, Everton and Wolves all showing an interest in his signature.
Forest are also close to completing an £18million swoop for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, who would become their TWENTY FOURTH signing since winning promotion from the Championship.
Scott price tag revealed
Bristol City have slapped a £25m price tag on their sought-after midfielder Alex Scott.
This notebook revealed last week that Bournemouth and Wolves are among a host of Premier League clubs chasing England under-20 international Scott.
Tottenham have also shown an interest in the Guernsey-born star, but it is likely City will have to reduce their bumper valuation to facilitate a move from Ashton Gate.
