United have also won their last eight meetings against Forest and beat them 3-0 in December.

Erik ten Hag’s men have all-but booked their place at Wembley for the final in February, but Forest won’t give up.

Steve Cooper’s men had chances against the Red Devils and had a goal ruled out, but they couldn’t find a way past David de Gea.

This tie should be put to bed by Man United, but in football, you just never know and thousands of Forest fans will make the trip to Manchester in the hope they can pull off a remarkable comeback.

The winner of this tie will face either Newcastle or Southampton in the final.

Manchester United v Nottingham Forest: Team news

The hosts could rotate ahead of what is an extremely busy month, which means Rashford and Fernandes might drop to the bench.

Christian Eriksen is unlikely to play any part after leaving Old Trafford on crutches after Saturday’s FA Cup over Reading.

Andy Carroll lunged in on the Dane and forced him from the field with an ankle injury.

Axel Tuanzebe, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot are also expected to miss out.

But Jadon Sancho could finally return to the United squad after training with the first team.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Morgan Gibbs-White, Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards, Cheikhou Kouyate and Dean Henderson.

Ryan Yates missed the first leg through illness and is struggling along with Jack Colback.

Manchester United v Nottingham Forest: What has been said?

Forest boss Cooper: “We were obviously disappointed with the first leg, but that’s the situation.

“It’s obviously an incredibly tough task to qualify. But it’s a semi-final, and when you play for Forest, it’s an honour and privilege.

    “We have to represent that.”
