Manchester United turnaround clear as Erik ten Hag earns nomination for Premier League manager of the month with Marcus Rashford up for player’s award

Manchester United’s rapid turnaround is clear to see as the club landed two nominations for September’s Premier League awards.

The Red Devils made a horrendous start to life under Erik ten Hag, losing their opening two top-flight matches, including a 4-0 hammering at Brentford.

But since then, the Dutchman has inspired a 100 per cent record in the league, with victories over Liverpool and Arsenal in a run of four consecutive wins.

Ten Hag has rejuvenated a number of misfiring players, including England duo Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

And the change of fortune at Old Trafford was illustrated as Ten Hag and Rashford earned nominations for this month’s Premier League gongs.

Rashford has three goals and two assists in six league matches, having struggled desperately during the 2021/22 campaign.

He is up against Bournemouth’s Philip Billing, Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Everton’s Alex Iwobi, Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag faces competition from Tottenham boss Antonio Conte and Bournemouth interim manager Gary O’Neil.
