Manchester United have opened talks with Fiorentina for the signing of Sofyan Amrabat after completing the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-year-old forward completed his medical with the club on Thursday and will be presented to supporters before Saturday’s friendly against Lens.

Hojlund’s arrival will take United’s spending past the £160m mark and that’s at the very top of the budget that Erik ten Hag was handed at the start of the summer.

Anthony Elanga has joined Nottingham Forest in a £15m deal, and Dean Henderson could follow him to the Forest Ground.

United Must Raise Funds To Continue Spending Spree

But United must raise more funds to continue their spending spree, with Fred, Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay up for sale.

Once United raise funds through player sales, they will submit a bid for Morocco ace Amrabat.

But the Red Devils are not risking the midfielder moving elsewhere, given there’s interest from Saudi Arabia in the 26-year-old.

United Hold ‘Secret’ Talks With Fiorentina

According to Sport Italia, United have held ‘secret’ talks with Fiorentina this week to negotiate a price for the midfielder.

Once the outline of a deal is agreed, United will look to complete player sales before submitting an official bid for Amrabat.

The midfielder has already agreed personal terms with United and is desperate to move to Old Trafford.

Amrabat worked with Ten Hag at Utretcht earlier in his career.
