Manchester United Duo Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro Return to Full Training Ahead of FA Cup Clash Against Wigan Athletic

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro have resumed full training ahead of their upcoming FA Cup third round match against Wigan Athletic. The South American duo played crucial roles for United last season, helping the team secure a third-place finish and win the Carabao Cup. However, their seasons have been marred by injuries, with Martinez being ruled out for the past three months. He suffered a season-ending foot injury in April after breaking his metatarsal in a Europa League game against Sevilla. Despite undergoing surgery and returning for pre-season, Martinez aggravated the injury in September and required a second operation. As a result, he has only started six matches this season, forcing manager Erik ten Hag to use 10 different center-back combinations. Casemiro, on the other hand, has been sidelined since November due to a knock he picked up during the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United. His future at Old Trafford has also come under scrutiny. Ten Hag confirmed that both Martinez and Casemiro are expected to return this month, as United only has two games scheduled in January due to the mid-season break. In addition to Martinez and Casemiro, Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, and Tyrell Malacia are also on track to make their comebacks this month. Ten Hag expressed his optimism about having many players back in January. United will face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round before hosting Tottenham in the Premier League.
