Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall has expressed his surprise at the scheduling of the Women’s Super League (WSL) match between his side and Manchester United on Wednesday, 19 April, just days before their Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg on Sunday. Eidevall believes that it gives Arsenal’s opponents, Chelsea, an unfair advantage as they do not have a midweek match before their Saturday semi-final against Barcelona. He has questioned the logic behind the scheduling and has called for an investigation into it.
Eidevall’s comments come after Manchester United boss Marc Skinner previously criticised the timing of the Champions League semi-finals. Arsenal have been hampered by injuries this season, with Beth Mead, Vivianne Miedema and captain Kim Little all out until the end of the season. Despite this, Eidevall is determined to focus on what his team can do and is determined to put in a good performance against Manchester United.
The Football Association has been approached for comment on the scheduling of the match.
