Erik heaps praise on Wout
Erik ten Hag hailed Wout Weghorst for breaking his Manchester United duck – with the killer second goal which broke Nottingham Forest’s hearts, writes GRAEME BRYCE.
And claimed the loan striker from Burnley will go from strength to strength now he is off the mark as a United marksman.
“For strikers the first goal is always important,” said Ten Hag.
“I think Wout did a great job against Crystal Palace and Arsenal with his pressing, providing a target, with his movement.
“Bruno’s goal against Crystal Palace, he was part of it because he makes the right movement to the front post.
“Rashford’s goal against Arsenal, he was part of it because he made the space for Rashford by dragging the centre-half away.
“But strikers are there to score goals and when they don’t score they are not happy.
“So it’s important for him and his confidence that he scored that goal tonight.”
