Reports suggest that Manchester United have held talks with Jeremie Frimpong, a star player from Bayer Leverkusen, as they prepare for a potential fire sale of defenders. The 22-year-old right-back has caught the attention of the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag searching for someone to fill that position. According to Manchester Evening News, United were willing to listen to offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka when the Dutch boss arrived last summer, but nothing concrete materialised. Teammate Diogo Dalot, who will become a free agent at the end of next season, is also being chased by several clubs including Juventus, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan. The report suggests that both players could be offloaded in the summer window as Ten Hag prepares to sell at least three full-backs. Other potential exits from United’s backline include Phil Jones, whose contract expires in June, and Harry Maguire, who has been benched for most of the campaign and is reportedly a £50m target for Paris Saint-Germain. The club is also looking to offload Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, and Brandon Williams. Ten Hag is already lining up replacements as he attempts to tempt Frimpong back to Manchester. Frimpong came through the ranks at City before moving to Celtic in 2019 and then Leverkusen two years ago. He has since broken into the Dutch national side and was part of their World Cup squad. In addition to bolstering his defence, Ten Hag is also keen on signing a new striker, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen among his top targets.
