Manchester United’s hopes of signing Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich depend on club’s ability to sell
Manchester United’s hopes of signing Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch are dependent on the club’s ability to sell at least one midfielder. The Red Devils are keen on signing another midfielder in the next week, with Gravenberch and Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat on the club’s radar.
United have registered their interest in Gravenberch, who is keen on leaving the Allianz Arena after making just six starts in his debut season at Bayern. But the Red Devils’ are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope and are unable to sanction another arrival without first offloading a player.
Fred, Mateo Kovar, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga have left the club already this summer, but United had hoped to shift Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams and Scott McTominay. United have found finding buyers difficult, particularly as the playing squad have seen their wages rise by 20% following the club’s qualification for the Champions League.
With Mason Mount set for a month on the sidelines, Ten Hag is desperate to bolster his midfield. But United’s failure to sell more players could open the door for Liverpool to sign Gravenberch. The Reds were beaten by Bayern to the Dutchman’s signature in 2022 but Gravenberch is aware of the admiration he’s held in by Jurgen Klopp.
