Erik ten Hag delighted with early progress of Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is delighted with the early progress of Rasmus Hojlund since arriving at Old Trafford and has talked up the budding partnership between the Dane and Marcus Rashford.
After a lengthy pursuit over the summer, Hojlund arrived from Atalanta and, after recovering from injury, has looked encouraging for the Red Devils. He is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League but the 20-year-old has scored three times in just two Champions League matches and Ten Hag likes what he has seen.
Rasmus Hojlund’s Early Progress
‘With his progress, we are very happy, very pleased,’ the Dutchman told MUTV. ‘As you said, I think it’s a big potential in him and I think he proves his potential and there will come more, given time.
‘We need training, you need the games. We need especially also more routines in the team, and then he will take even more benefit from it.
‘But also I think other players around him can take benefit from his actions. So he is a threat, he is scoring, but I know also other players in our team can also score.’
The Partnership Between Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford
Rashford provided the assist for Hojlund’s opener against Galatasaray on Tuesday night and the two men will be fixtures in Ten Hag’s front three for some time to come. The former Ajax manager, who is under pressure after a number of poor results already this season, expects the two forwards to build a successful relationship and he hopes that happens very soon.
‘That has to grow and that takes time. But we know we don’t have time, but I think it was a very good example, the first goal we made, where Marcus is crossing in and Rasmus is running and he’s arriving there and a good finish,’ said Ten Hag.
‘When we train this more, in more games, it will grow and I’m sure it will also be going the other side and that Rasmus Højlund linking up for Rashy and he will finish.’
Conclusion
There is plenty of expectation for Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford and it looks like they are forming a promising partnership. With more training and game time, this partnership could become even more dangerous for opposing teams.
