Manchester United seek £25m for Donny van de Beek as Real Sociedad talks open
Manchester United are seeking around £25million to sell Donny van de Beek after opening talks with Real Sociedad for the Dutchman.
The Netherlands playmaker joined United in 2020 from Ajax in a deal worth around £35m. However, the midfielder’s struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford and he spent the bulk of last season on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Erik ten Hag has already signed Mason Mount this summer, which has pushed Van de Beek further down the pecking order. The Dutchman is looking to add Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat to his squad but he must first find a buyer for Van de Beek.
Van de Beek wants first team football
The 26-year-old wants regular first team football after a disastrous three years at the Theatre of Dreams and he’s open to a move to La Liga.
United have opened talks with Sociedad over a deal for Van de Beek but the Daily Mail report that the Red Devils are seeking £25m to let him go. This would seem an ambitious asking price, though it may have been set as a means to obtaining a fee of around £15m-£20m.
Once Van de Beek and Fred depart, United will look to submit a bid of around £25m for Amrabat.
United looking to strengthen squad
United have already signed Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire this summer, while they are also in talks with Real Madrid over a deal for Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils have also been linked with moves for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, while they are also interested in signing West Ham’s Declan Rice.
United are also looking to strengthen their midfield options and have been linked with moves for West Ham’s Jesse Lingard and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.
