Erik ten Hag has a difficult decision to make ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Sevilla tonight. United need to win in order to progress to the semi-finals, but they will be without Bruno Fernandes due to a quite ridiculous yellow card for supposed handball in the first leg. On the plus side, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer have all travelled despite missing Sunday’s win against Nottingham Forest. Ten Hag must get his team selection right if United are to progress.
It is likely that Ten Hag will stick with the centre-back partnership of Maguire and Lindelof that kept a clean sheet against Forest on Sunday. Malacia is out with a knee complaint, so Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start at right-back, with Shaw at left-back if he is fit enough. De Gea will start in goal.
In midfield, Christian Eriksen’s return earlier this month has allowed Ten Hag to deploy Fernandes in a deeper role to combat the loss of the Dane’s playmaking. Marcel Sabitzer, who scored twice in the first leg, will likely start in attack, while Casemiro is a certainty to start at the base of midfield.
On the right, it’s between Antony and Jadon Sancho for a start but the Brazilian has been in better form in recent weeks and he was the matchwinner against Forest. Up front, United will welcome back Rashford after his groin injury against Everton, as his 28 goals this term are invaluable for United’s chances of progression.
