Manchester United Open to Selling Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay
Manchester United are open to selling both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay but not for the offers that West Ham have made so far. The Hammers have made separate bids of £30m for the England defender and the Scotland midfielder, both of which have been rejected by the Red Devils.
McTominay’s Future
Negotiations are still ongoing between the two Premier League clubs and deals could be done, but one looks more likely than the other at this stage. The Athletic report that manager Erik ten Hag ‘would ideally like to keep hold of McTominay’ so West Ham would have to significantly improve their bid if they are to convince Manchester United into selling him.
The Red Devils are thought to value McTominay between £40-45m and they are more than happy to keep him at the club unless the valuation is met. Newcastle are reportedly still interested in McTominay as well, who does not look likely to have regular first team opportunities ahead of him at Old Trafford after the arrival of Mason Mount and with the club interested in Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
Maguire’s Future
A deal for Maguire looks more achievable for West Ham, or another party willing to bid for the centre-back, as the Hammers’ last bid was not too far off what Manchester United would accept. Sky Sports report that a compromise of around £35m would be enough to tempt the Red Devils into selling the defender who has fallen well down the pecking order under Ten Hag.
Personal terms would have to be reached, which may not be straight forward given he is on huge wages at Old Trafford, but Maguire will want regular playing time ahead of the European Championships with England next year.
