The Scottish giants hoped to entice him with the promise of first-team action, but it was speculated that his salary was too expensive for Rangers. However, it now appears that Butland will be heading to Ibrox after agreeing to a compromise on his personal terms. The Daily Mail has claimed that the fact that Beale “really wanted him” was a key factor in his decision. Butland, who has won nine England caps, has made just 17 appearances in the last three years and none this season during his time at both Palace and United.
