Galatasaray Reportedly Interested in Signing Donny van de Beek from Manchester United
Galatasaray, the Turkish football club, is said to be interested in acquiring the services of Donny van de Beek, the out-of-favour midfielder from Manchester United. Van de Beek, who is 26 years old, has only made two appearances for the Red Devils this season, playing a total of 21 minutes.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has already confirmed that Van de Beek will be allowed to leave Old Trafford in January. Ten Hag stated, “I can see he has to play for his career and for everything.” According to Turkish outlet Sporx, Galatasaray is considering making a transfer bid for the Dutchman.
It is expected that Galatasaray will approach Van de Beek when the transfer window opens. Contact has already been made between the player and Galatasaray officials. Van de Beek has made a total of 62 appearances for Manchester United since joining the club in a £39 million transfer from Ajax in 2020.
Earlier this year, Van de Beek was close to completing a move to Real Sociedad, but the transfer fell through at the last minute due to clubs failing to reach an agreement. Discussing the failed transfer, Van de Beek told Diario AS, “The time comes when a decision has to be made. I have to start playing games very soon, if it’s not possible at United, then I will go to another club. I think this is a healthy ambition. I make a good living at United, but money has never been my motivation.”
Manchester United recently squandered a two-goal lead and drew 3-3 with Galatasaray, dealing a blow to their Champions League hopes. Stay updated with all the latest transfer and takeover news from Old Trafford by following MAN UTD NEWS LIVE.
