Manchester United crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday evening as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Sevilla in Spain. After throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in the first leg at Old Trafford last week, Erik ten Hag’s side dominated the return leg and deservedly secured their place in the semi final where they will play Juventus. Youssef En-Nesyri put Sevilla in front after just eight minutes, with Loic Bade’s shoulder looping the ball over David De Gea into the net two minutes after the restart. De Gea’s miserable evening was complete with nine minutes remaining as the United goalkeeper raced out of his goal to control a clearance but got it all wrong and En-Nesyri netted his second of the game to seal Sevilla’s victory.
Elsewhere, Juventus drew 1-1 with Sporting CP to secure their place in the semi final, while Bayer Leverkusen ran out 4-1 winners over Union St.Gilloise in Belgium. The semi final draw saw Juventus face Sevilla, and Feyenoord/Roma take on Bayer Leverkusen. Roma were staring down the barrel of a Europa League exit but Paulo Dybala’s 89th minute goal forced extra time at home to Feyenoord.
