Former Manchester United masseur Rod Thornley has revealed that Dwight Yorke went “off the rails” after the club’s treble success in 1999. Yorke had joined United from Aston Villa in 1998 and was a key part of the team that won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League that season. However, Thornley believes that the huge success got the better of the striker, who he says was often seen with “yellow eyes” due to partying too much. He also revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson was aware of Yorke’s behaviour and was kept informed by people ringing him up to report his activities.
