Manchester United Set To Complete Andre Onana Transfer Within 48 Hours

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Andre Onana from Inter within the next 48 hours, according to reports in Italy. United have been searching for a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer after deciding not to renew David de Gea’s contract, and have held extensive talks with Inter over a deal for Onana in recent weeks.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, United have now agreed a deal worth in excess of €50 million (£42.8m), including bonuses, while personal terms have also been finalised with Onana. The 27-year-old will now complete his medical with United within the next two days with the aim to join up with Erik ten Hag’s squad on Wednesday where they will travel to the United States for their pre-season tour.

Onana was at Inter’s training ground on Sunday to take part in his final session with the club and say goodbye to his teammates. Onana, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax, will become United’s second summer signing following their £60m deal for Mason Mount earlier this month. It’s understood that Ten Hag has already spoken with Onana ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

Once their deal for Onana is complete, United will then focus on bringing in a new striker before the end of the summer window. Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund is United’s top target but the Serie A club have so far rejected all offers and are demanding an £86m fee.

The move for Onana is a major statement of intent from United as they look to challenge for the Premier League title next season. The Cameroon international has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in Europe over the past few years and will provide a huge boost to United’s defence.

Onana has made over 250 appearances for Ajax and Inter since making his debut in 2013 and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups, one Coppa Italia and one UEFA Europa League during his time in Europe.

United have been desperate to sign a new goalkeeper this summer and Onana appears to be the perfect fit for their needs. He is an experienced shot-stopper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has the ability to play out from the back.

The move for Onana will be a huge boost for United and could be the signing that helps them challenge for major honours next season. With Onana in goal, United will be confident of keeping more clean sheets and challenging for silverware.
