Manchester United angered by Phil Parkinson’s stinging comments on Nathan Bishop
Manchester United have been left angered by Phil Parkinson’s stinging post match comments on their young goalkeeper Nathan Bishop following last night’s 3-1 friendly defeat against Wrexham. The 23-year-old started the match but was left distraught after his challenge left the Welsh side’s star player, Paul Mullin, with a puncture lung.
In a post match interview, a furious Parkinson warned Bishop to ‘steer clear’ of him and Wrexham are now facing an anxious wait over the seriousness of the injury sustained by last season’s top goalscorer. According to The Telegraph, Parkinson’s comments have not gone down well with United officials who feel the Wrexham manager is ‘needlessly inflaming a difficult situation’.
Bishop Apologizes for Misjudgment
Bishop subsequently posted an apology to Mullin on Twitter which read: ‘Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to @PMullin7. A complete misjudgment and a genuine accident with 0 malicious intent at all!’
Wrexham are due to kick off their League Two season at home to MK Dons on August 5 but Parkinson expects the striker to miss the start of the season. ‘Yeah, I think when you’ve got a punctured lung and you’ve got 10 days to stay fit you’re saying no,’ the manager said. ‘We just got a call from the hospital to say there’s a small puncture in his lung. It’ll probably be tomorrow morning before we get the specialist to have a look at it.’
