Harry Maguire booed by Manchester United fans after mistake in pre-season friendly
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was booed by a section of the club’s supporters after making a mistake in their pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
The £80 million defender gave the ball away in the build up to Nico Williams’ goal which put Bilbao in front in the 29th minute. After his error, Maguire was booed by a section of United supporters at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, although other fans attempted to drown out the jeers with applause.
Maguire started alongside Victor Lindelof at the heart of United’s defence for their friendly against Bilbao, which ended in a 1-1 draw after Facundo Pellistri scored an equaliser in the 90th minute.
