Man Utd confirms first transfer: Kim Min-jae set to join on July 1

Manchester United have confirmed their first summer signing with the acquisition of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae. The 26-year-old South Korean international will join the Red Devils on July 1, after accepting the club’s contract offer of £9 million-per-year, which equates to around £175,000-per-week. United faced competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United, as well as opposition from Napoli who reportedly offered Kim a new deal to remove his release clause. However, United emerged victorious in the race for his signature. Kim enjoyed a successful debut season in Italy, making 45 appearances as Napoli won their first Serie A title in 33 years. This signing is expected to be followed by more business at Old Trafford, including talks over a move for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
