Manchester United have opened talks with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount this summer, with personal terms already agreed between the two parties. Erik ten Hag’s side have emerged as favourites to sign the 24-year-old Blues midfielder, who has entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. United are still to make an official offer for Mount, but senior figures at the club are in discussions with Chelsea and are said to be ‘increasingly confident’ of reaching an agreement. The club are expected to make their formal offer once their season concludes after Saturday’s FA Cup final showdown with Manchester City. Reports have suggested United are preparing a £55million offer for Mount which is expected to fall short of Chelsea’s valuation, who could ask for as much as £70m for their academy graduate despite him having just 12 months left on his contract. Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in signing Mount, but are currently focused on other targets.
