Manchester United handed boost ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace after Roy Hodgson confirmed the absence of two stars.
United knocked Palace out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory and host the south Londoners at Old Trafford again this weekend.
Injury to Dean Henderson
During the match, Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson – who joined the club from United this summer – was forced off with injury and Eagles boss Hodgson has now confirmed his No.1 choice will not be present for Saturday’s meeting.
Hodgson also revealed that Palace will be without Odsonne Edouard, who has registered four goals across his six Premier League games this term.
‘The initial scan [on Henderson] wasn’t very positive, I’m sorry to say,’ the Palace manager said on Friday.
‘He has another scan in a week’s time and maybe we’ll be lucky and that will show somewhat less damage than we saw in the first one, but it didn’t look like good news.’
Absence of Odsonne Edouard
Hodgson also spoke about the absence of Edouard, saying: ‘I don’t have any fears about [Odsonne Edouard] building on his good start or doing what he’s been doing when he gets back into the team. Unfortunately this game has come just a little bit too soon and we can’t take the risk of reactivating his slight muscle injury and make it worse. That’s the decision that had to be taken. It’s a tough decision to take when you need players, but I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if we threw him into this game not 100 per cent ready.
Manchester United’s Injury Woes
Manchester United have had their fair share of injury woes this season, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, and Mason Greenwood all missing out on some games due to injury. However, they have managed to remain competitive in the Premier League and currently sit in third place in the standings.
The Red Devils have also been boosted by the return of Anthony Martial from injury, who has been in fine form since his return. He scored twice in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup earlier this week.
Conclusion
Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of their clash against Crystal Palace this weekend, with Roy Hodgson confirming the absence of two stars. Dean Henderson and Odsonne Edouard will both be missing for the Eagles, which gives United an advantage as they look to continue their impressive form in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have been boosted by the return of Anthony Martial from injury and will be hoping he can continue his fine form against Palace on Saturday.
