Manchester United Set to Submit £50m Bid for Atalanta Striker Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United have submitted an improved offer of €50m (£42.7m) to Inter for their goalkeeper Andre Onana and are now looking to secure a £50m deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports. The move comes after the club completed their £55m move to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this week.
Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, is keen to recruit a new striker and goalkeeper before the start of the new season and has made Hojlund his preferred target. The club had been weighing up moves for Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani at the start of the transfer window, but Ten Hag has now shifted his focus to the Danish international.
Atalanta signed Hojlund in a €17m (£14.3m) deal from Sturm Graz last August and the 20-year-old delivered an impressive first season in Italy with 10 goals in 34 appearances. He was handed his first senior cap for Denmark last September and has since scored six goals in six games for the national side.
Earlier this month, reports in Italy had claimed that United had a €35million (£31m) offer for Hojlund rejected by Atalanta. The Danish striker represents a cheaper alternative to Kolo Muani as Frankfurt are demanding a €100m (£86m) fee for the 24-year-old, who scored 15 goals in his first season in the Bundesliga last term.
United are now hopeful that their £50m proposal will be enough to bring Hojlund to Old Trafford. The club is keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season and Hojlund could prove to be an excellent addition to the squad.
The young striker has already shown that he can perform at the highest level and his potential is clear for all to see. With Ten Hag at the helm, Hojlund could develop into one of the best strikers in Europe and would be a great signing for Manchester United.
The club is also looking to sign a goalkeeper before the start of the new season and have already submitted an improved offer of €50m (£42.7m) to Inter for their goalkeeper Andre Onana. The move is part of Ten Hag’s plan to strengthen the squad ahead of the new campaign and could prove to be a shrewd piece of business by Manchester United.
It remains to be seen whether United will be able to secure a deal for Hojlund or Onana, but it is clear that Ten Hag is keen to add some quality players to his squad before the start of the new season. With both players having already proven themselves at the highest level, they could be excellent additions to the Manchester United squad and could help the club challenge for major honours next season.
