Manchester United’s pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch hinges on the club’s ability to offload at least one player in the coming week. The Red Devils are eager to strengthen their midfield options and have identified Gravenberch, along with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, as potential targets.
Gravenberch, who had a limited role in his debut season at Bayern, has expressed his desire to leave the Allianz Arena. However, Manchester United’s financial constraints under the Financial Fair Play regulations mean they cannot make any new signings without first selling a player.
The club has already seen the departures of Fred, Mateo Kovar, Alex Telles, and Anthony Elanga this summer. But their attempts to offload Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams, and Scott McTominay have proven challenging.
United’s difficulties in finding buyers for their players have been compounded by the 20% increase in wages following their qualification for the Champions League. This situation has given Liverpool an opportunity to potentially sign Gravenberch, who was previously pursued by Bayern in 2022. Jurgen Klopp holds a high regard for the Dutch midfielder and could make a move if United fail to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is also keen on bolstering his midfield options after Mason Mount’s injury. Gravenberch’s potential availability could be enticing for Ten Hag, who values the player’s abilities.
In other news, Toni Kroos has criticized Liverpool and Chelsea target Gabri Veiga for joining Al Ahli. The German midfielder expressed his disappointment in Veiga’s decision to move to a less competitive league.
