This summer could be the most important one for Manchester United in a long, long time.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford should see the playing squad change massively with a number of incomings and outgoings expected.

United have seen six first-team players leave after the end of their contracts, including Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

However, many more in the current squad could find themselves pushed out of the exit door as well to make way for new players.

But who could be replacing them? Well, talkSPORT.com decided to take a look at the biggest Manchester United transfer rumours…

The likes of Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly will be moved on as Ten Hag looks to make his mark.

Antony and Frenkie de Jong

United manager Ten Hag is on course to sign two of his former Ajax players, Antony and Frenkie de Jong, talkSPORT understands.

A move for Barcelona’s De Jong has long been mooted, and now Brazilian winger Antony could be about to follow Ten Hag over from Amsterdam.

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook said: “I think United are definitely in for Antony.

“His numbers for much of the season were decent, I think he missed the end of the campaign injured but he’s obviously someone that Erik ten Hag knows well.

“There’s been talk of a £40million bid going in for him, certainly my sources at United haven’t distanced themselves from those rumours so I think Antony is a target.

“In fact I’ve had a text from somebody else saying if he doesn’t become a Manchester United player this summer I would be surprised.

“I think at the moment him and Frenkie De Jong look like two definite arrivals at Manchester United and are two players that Ten Hag clearly trusts and believes he can get the best out of.”

Christian Eriksen

United and Tottenham have been boosted by the news that Eriksen has reportedly turned down a contract extension from Brentford.

The Danish midfielder made a miraculous return to football in January following a cardiac arrest whilst representing Denmark at last summer’s Euros.

He scored once and provided four assists during his six-month spell in west London leading to a host of clubs keeping tabs on the 30-year-old.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that Eriksen has turned down an offer to extend his stay with the Bees.

Pedulla states that the Dane is angling for a move to a Champions League club although he is keen to remain a Premier League player.

Nottingham Forest have launched a bid to sign Dean Henderson from United this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the offer is for a loan switch with a view to a permanent deal worth £20million next summer.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed hugely successful loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United, where he helped the Blades to secure promotion from the Championship before seeing them finish ninth in the Premier League in 2019/20.

Pau Torres

Given that the Red Devils conceded 57 goals in the Premier League – four more than Burnley – they could probably do with improving the defence.

The Daily Express report Torres’ agents are travelling to Manchester to negotiate a deal with the Red Devils for the 25-year-old to leave Villarreal and move to Old Trafford.

Despite reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, the Yellow Submarines have financial issues to worry about and they have made Torres available for sale.

He will cost around £45m but could be at the heart of the United defence for years and years.

Jurrien Timber

Another player who has worked under Ten Hag before that could go to United is Timber.

Journalist Jonathan Shrager reported that Timber’s agents are in Manchester to hear the Red Devils’ plans.

Timber was handed his debut by Ten Hag and he would add versatility to the United defence.

Shrager added in a separate tweet that the Red Devils were the favourites for Timber’s signature.

Paul Pogba

The date has been set for Paul Pogba to complete his return to Juventus.

The Manchester United star, who left the Red Devils for Turin back in 2012, will see history repeat itself by joining the Italian giants on a free transfer after striking a verbal agreement over a return – rejecting an approach from Man City in the process.

A club statement confirmed the news earlier this month, saying: “For a boy that joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware – not to mention the World Cup at international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated.

“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

“We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”
