Yann Sommer is once again on Manchester United’s radar as they look to recruit a new goalkeeper. The Swiss player has been a target for the Red Devils since last summer and is the type of keeper that Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in. Sommer is ready to leave Bayern Munich unless he is given assurances that he will replace Manuel Neuer as the team’s number one. He would be a cheaper alternative to Jordan Pickford and Andre Onana, who are also on Ten Hag’s wish-list. While United have agreed a new contract with David de Gea, the Spaniard has yet to sign it, which is delaying Dean Henderson’s permanent move to Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are willing to make midfielder Bruno Guimaraes their highest-paid player ever to keep him at the club. The Brazilian international has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park since his £40m move from Lyon in January 2022 and played a key role in their Champions League qualification. Despite attracting interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, Guimaraes has indicated that he is happy at Newcastle.
Leeds United are searching for a new manager and have enquired about the availability of former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker. Parker has been out of work since being sacked by Belgian side Club Brugge in March after just 12 games in charge. Leeds are attracted to Parker due to his proven record of leading teams out of the Championship. Parker is also believed to be on Leicester’s radar, although the Foxes are still hoping to tempt Graham Potter to drop down a division.
Finally, Manuel Lanzini is set to leave West Ham after seven years at the club. The Argentine midfielder’s contract expires this summer and he is not expected to sign a new deal. Despite being a cult hero among Hammers fans, Lanzini started just three Premier League games last season.
