Bayern Munich Fans Chant X-Rated Song at Manchester United Players
Bayern Munich fans wasted no time in trying to get into the heads of the Manchester United players as they sang an explicit chant. However, the Old Trafford faithful had the perfect response for the visiting fans.
Thomas Tuchel’s side, who have already secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, will face United in their final group stage match.
The Importance of the Match for Manchester United
The clash at Old Trafford holds significant importance for the home side as they must win to have a chance of progressing in the tournament.
Bayern previously defeated United 4-3 in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, making revenge a motivating factor for the English team.
Despite this, hundreds of German fans arrived at Old Trafford, clearly eager to create an electric atmosphere.
United Fans Respond with Nostalgia
As the United players came out for their warm-ups, Bayern supporters could be heard chanting, ‘You’re s*** and you know you are!’
However, the home fans had a clever response, reminding their opponents of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s late winner against Bayern in the 1999 Champions League final.
Erik ten Hag’s side currently sits at the bottom of Group A with only one win out of five matches.
They also return to Old Trafford just three days after their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
United’s Hopes of Advancement
In order for United to advance to the last 16, they must defeat Bayern and hope that FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw their match.
If Copenhagen wins or if there is a draw along with a victory for Copenhagen, United will still have the opportunity to play European football this season, but in the Europa League instead.
Bayern is the clear favorite to win, as Tuchel and his team remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season.
For United, this match is just the first of two potentially season-defining matches this week, as they also face a challenging trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
