Manchester United will be required to change their shorts and socks to black for the FA Cup final against Manchester City this weekend. The Red Devils will take on their rivals at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, with City being the designated home side. As a result, they will wear their traditional sky blue shirt with white shorts and white socks. In order to avoid a kit clash, United will have to change their shorts and socks from their usual matching colour to black. This is the same coordination they wore in their 6-3 defeat away at City in October.
This will be United’s second appearance in the final since winning it in 2016, with their previous outing seeing them lose to Chelsea in 2018. Erik ten Hag’s side will stick to their traditional red kit in the showcase event, a strip they have worn all throughout the FA Cup this season. However, there will be one slight alteration in order to avoid a kit clash against their rivals.
Saturday’s match is the FA Cup’s first ever all-Manchester final, with both sides eyeing more glory this season. United are looking to win their second trophy in just over three months after lifting the Carabao Cup in February. City are also looking for a second piece of silverware to add to their Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side also know that should they win, they could be on course to win the treble, something only United have been able to achieve.
The stakes will be high at Wembley this weekend as the Manchester giants face off for one of football’s most prestigious trophies. TalkSPORT will provide live coverage of the FA Cup final, which kicks-off at 3pm.
