# Bernardo Silva Signs One-Year Contract Extension with Manchester City
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2026. The Portugal international’s previous deal was due to run out in 2025.
The 29-year-old has been linked with Barcelona over the past two summers, as well as Paris St-Germain and Al-Hilal. However, he has now committed his future to Manchester City.
Since joining the club in May 2017, Silva has been involved in all five of their Premier League title successes. He has also won two League Cups and an FA Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
## Silva’s Career with Manchester City
Bernardo Silva joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017 for a fee of £43 million. He has since established himself as an integral part of the team, making over 200 appearances in all competitions.
The midfielder has scored 27 goals and provided 28 assists for the club in that time. He has also been named in the PFA Team of the Year twice, in 2018 and 2019.
Silva has been a key part of Pep Guardiola’s side since his arrival, helping them to win five Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup. He has also been a regular in the Champions League, playing in all but one of their matches since 2017.
## Silva’s International Career
As well as his club career, Silva has also enjoyed success on the international stage. He has made over 70 appearances for Portugal since his debut in 2014, scoring 11 goals.
Silva was part of the Portugal squad that won Euro 2016, and he was also part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup. He was named in the team of the tournament for both competitions.
## What Does the Future Hold for Silva?
With his new contract extension, Silva will remain at Manchester City until 2026. This will take him to the age of 34, and he will be looking to add to his impressive trophy haul with the club.
The midfielder will also be hoping to help Portugal to more success on the international stage. They are currently top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group, and Silva will be looking to help them reach next summer’s tournament.
