Manchester City have lifted their fifth Premier League title in six seasons, with their 1-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium sealing the deal. Kyle Walker was asked about the feeling of winning and he said that only one team other than them had won three titles in a row. However, he was wrong as five teams have done it before: Huddersfield, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and now Man City. Liverpool’s run of three First Division titles in a row from 1981-1984 was part of a nine-season streak of seven titles in total. The Reds also ended a 30-year wait for their first Premier League title in 2019-2020.
Man City are now looking to complete a treble of honours with victories in the FA Cup and Champions League finals, something that has not been done since Manchester United in 1998-1999. However, they face the looming threat of sanctions due to the involvement of an Arsenal-supporting barrister.
