Luke Littler, the rising star in the world of darts, is set to make his debut in a star-studded fishing tournament on TV. The 17-year-old, known as “The Nuke,” will join a field of 32 sporting celebrities including former footballer David Seaman and boxer Ebanie Bridges. The Target Sports Stars Fishing Championship, a charity event held in Warwickshire, will be broadcast on ITV4 and ITVX on July 30.
For Littler, this will be a completely new experience as he has never fished before. However, he expressed his excitement about participating in the championship. Littler’s journey to success in darts has been remarkable. At just 16 years old, he reached the World Championship final earlier this year. He has also won the Premier League Darts title, as well as the Bahrain Masters, Belgian Open, and Austrian Open.
In the fishing championship, Littler will team up with three other darts rivals: Rob Cross, James Wade, and Adrian Lewis. They will compete in a four-hour team event. Other notable participants include Terry Butcher, the legendary England footballer, Kell Brook, former boxing world champion, and Steve Davis, snooker icon.
The tournament aims to raise funds for the Willow Foundation, a national charity that provides unique special-day experiences for adults aged 16 to 40 living with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. David Seaman, who is an ambassador for the Willow Foundation, will also be participating in the event.
It’s worth noting that the fishing championship is not open to the public. However, fans can catch all the action on ITV4 and ITVX. The two-hour broadcast will showcase the highlights of the charity event, allowing viewers to witness the sporting celebrities trying their hand at fishing.
This event marks another milestone in Luke Littler’s already impressive career. While he has made a name for himself in darts, he is now venturing into the world of fishing. This opportunity will not only provide him with a new sporting challenge but also help raise funds for a worthy cause. As Littler casts his hand to a completely different pastime, fans and viewers will be eagerly watching to see how he fares on the fishing stage.
