# Romelu Lukaku Joins Roma on Season-Long Loan from Chelsea

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has agreed to join Italian side Roma on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The 30-year-old returns to Serie A having spent last season on loan with Inter Milan, helping them reach the Champions League final. He is reported to have turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League.

“The welcome that this club and these fans gave me thrilled me and represents a further incentive to give everything for my new team,” Lukaku said.

## Romelu Lukaku’s Career

Romelu Lukaku is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Roma and the Belgium national team. He began his career at Anderlecht, where he made his professional debut at the age of 16 in 2009. He won the Belgian Pro League in his first full season and was the league’s top scorer for two consecutive seasons. In 2011, he joined English side Chelsea for a reported fee of £18 million.

Lukaku spent the 2013–14 season on loan at Everton, where he scored 15 goals in 31 league appearances. He returned to Everton on a permanent deal in 2014 and went on to become their all-time top scorer with 87 goals in 166 appearances. In 2017, he joined Manchester United for an initial fee of £75 million, making him the most expensive Belgian footballer in history.

## Lukaku’s Move to Roma

Lukaku has now joined Roma on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The move reunites him with former Inter Milan manager Paulo Fonseca, who is now in charge of the Italian side.

The Belgium international is expected to add some much-needed firepower to Roma’s attack, having scored 34 goals in 65 appearances for Inter Milan last season. He will also bring a wealth of experience to the side, having played in the Premier League, Serie A and Champions League.

Roma have been busy in the transfer window this summer, having already signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Chris Smalling from Arsenal and Manchester United respectively. They are also reportedly close to signing defender Roger Ibanez from Atalanta.

## Conclusion

Romelu Lukaku’s move to Roma is a major coup for the Italian side and could prove to be a decisive factor in their push for Champions League qualification this season. The Belgium international has already proven his quality in both the Premier League and Serie A, and his experience could be invaluable as Roma look to challenge for silverware this season.
