Romelu Lukaku has confirmed that he wants to extend his stay at Inter Milan and is not targeting a return to Chelsea. The Belgian striker returned to Inter on loan last summer after struggling to make an impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge following his £97.5 million move in 2021. However, Lukaku has endured another difficult season due to injury and has only managed to start 13 games in Serie A so far this term. Despite this, Lukaku insists he wants to remain at Inter once his loan spell finishes at the end of the season. Inter have already indicated that they have no plans to sign Lukaku on a permanent transfer, with the club’s CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, claiming last month that the striker is “not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by”. Lukaku scored twice in Inter’s 3-0 win over Empoli on Sunday and said after the match that he has an excellent relationship with the fans and wants to give his best for Inter.
