Liverpool have embarked on their pre-season tour of the United States with a 28-man squad. However, manager Arne Slot is hopeful that the squad will be bolstered by the arrival of four more players during their time in America.
Two key players, Alisson and Diogo Jota, are expected to join the squad first after their participation in Copa America and the Euros respectively. They are slated to rejoin their Liverpool teammates at the start of next week. Following closely behind them could be Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate, who are set to return to the squad in early August after their time at the Euros.
Despite not featuring in any matches during the tournament, Gravenberch and Konate may be fast-tracked into the pre-season preparations with fitness tests in the US. There is also a possibility that Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo, who were heavily involved with the Netherlands at the Euros, could join the squad on tour. However, it is more likely that they will rejoin Liverpool alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez in the second week of August.
In addition to the European players, Liverpool can also expect the return of Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez, who were involved in the Copa America. They are scheduled to be back in time for the final friendly of the summer against Sevilla at Anfield on August 11.
Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures in the US include matches against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United on July 27, August 1, and August 4 respectively. After their encounter with Man United in Columbia, South Carolina, the team is expected to fly back to the UK and continue their preparations for the upcoming season.
While injuries have ruled out Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns from participating in the tour, there is speculation that another player’s absence may be linked to a potential transfer exit.
