Liverpool is preparing to announce their released and retained lists after the conclusion of the season, and one player expected to depart is Mateusz Musialowski. The 20-year-old forward’s contract will expire on July 1, just months after making his first-team debut.
Musialowski’s inclusion in the squad for the Europa League match against Sparta Prague in March was a surprise, but Jurgen Klopp expressed his belief that the young player was ready for senior football. However, Musialowski has not made another appearance at any level since then.
It has been widely anticipated that Musialowski would leave the club at the end of the season. Last summer, a move to TSV Hartberg fell through, and interest from Birmingham and Leeds in January also did not materialize. His agent, Cezary Kucharski, revealed that they had an agreement not to pursue opportunities in Poland and suggested that Musialowski should consider playing in the Netherlands, Belgium, or Switzerland.
Despite Musialowski’s expected departure, Liverpool is likely to offer him a new contract as part of the free transfer mechanics. This would ensure that the club receives compensation from his next team.
Another young player who could be on the move is Melkamu Frauendorf, a German utility player who has made two appearances for the first team under Klopp. Frauendorf has struggled with injuries this season, and it is believed that his contract with Liverpool will expire at the end of the season. However, there are currently no reports of interest in him from other clubs.
Liverpool is unlikely to confirm any academy departures until mid-June, so it remains to be seen which other players may be leaving the club. With a summer of unprecedented change on the horizon, including Jurgen Klopp’s departure, fans can expect to see several players released as Liverpool looks to rebuild and reshape their squad.
