Liverpool’s pre-season training session was overseen by Arne Slot and Alex Inglethorpe, the academy director. The session took place at the AXA Training Centre, where 20 outfield players were seen in running drills and small-sided games. Among the players present were Mohamed Salah, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and Kostas Tsimikas.
It was noted that Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, and Vitezslav Jaros had returned to training after their involvement in the Euros. However, only Szoboszlai and Jaros underwent the initial fitness tests on the outdoor pitches, while Robertson’s work on the first day was limited to the gym. Kaide Gordon remained indoors, and Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark were absent from the session.
Clark’s absence may be due to his ongoing recovery from injury, which prematurely ended his campaign. It is worth mentioning that Clark, along with winger Harvey Blair and midfielder Luca Stephenson, has caught the eye and been retained in the second week of pre-season, despite not being regulars in the first team.
The training session also saw a limited group of goalkeepers working with coaches Fabian Otte and Mark Morris in the absence of Alisson. Marcelo Pitaluga, Fabian Mrozek, and Kornel Misciur were involved in small-sided games.
Notably, Calum Scanlon and Dominic Corness were not seen with the main group, suggesting that they may be training with the U21s instead.
Overall, the session showcased a mix of senior players like Salah and Robertson, as well as promising young talents from Liverpool’s academy. The presence of players like Elliott, Jones, Szoboszlai, and Tsimikas highlights the depth and talent within the squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.
