# Liverpool’s Nat Phillips Joins Celtic on Loan Until January
Liverpool central defender Nat Phillips has joined Celtic on loan until January, providing cover for the Scottish champions’ injured trio Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh. The 26-year-old is looking forward to the opportunity to play for such a huge club with their ambitions and mentality of wanting to be winners in everything they do.
Phillips made two first team starts for Liverpool last season and appeared three times as a substitute, and has featured in 29 games for the club, scoring once. His contract at Anfield runs until 2025 and he is excited to get the opportunity to join Celtic and play in the Champions League this year.
“When I heard about the interest it was one that got me excited,” he told Celtic TV. “There were a few other options that didn’t quite make me feel the same as this one did, so I was really keen to get it over the line and I’m delighted to be here now.”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was pleased to bring in Phillips to provide defensive support in the squad due to the number of injuries they have experienced recently.
“Nat arrives with the experience of having played for another huge club in Liverpool and those experiences will serve him well here at Celtic,” said Rodgers.
Phillips has had previous loan spells at Stuttgart and Bournemouth, and is now looking forward to his time at Celtic and helping them achieve their goals this season.
The loan move will give Phillips the chance to gain more experience and develop his game further, while also providing Celtic with an experienced defender who can help them compete at the highest level this season in the Champions League and domestically in Scotland.
It will be interesting to see how Phillips performs during his loan spell at Celtic and whether he can help them achieve their ambitions this season and beyond.
If Phillips can impress during his time at Celtic, it could open up more opportunities for him at Liverpool when he returns in January, as well as potentially attracting interest from other clubs in the future.
