Liverpool’s U21s coach, Barry Lewtas, is proud of the progress made by teenager Amara Nallo in the club’s centre-back ranks. Nallo, who joined Liverpool from West Ham last summer, quickly moved up from the U18s to the U21s and even had the opportunity to train with the first team under Jurgen Klopp. Despite being sent back to U21s training for now, Lewtas is impressed with Nallo’s development.
Speaking after the U21s’ first game of the season, Lewtas praised Nallo’s “huge progress” and expressed his pride in the young player’s hard work. He also mentioned that Nallo’s first-team chance will come again and that there is a lot of excitement surrounding his ability at all levels.
Lewtas highlighted the demanding nature of the defensive line and how the team wants to defend, noting that it requires concentration and a willingness to do what they ask. He commended Nallo for his persistence and acknowledged that sometimes the easy option is to not follow their tactics. Overall, Lewtas believes Nallo deserves all the credit for his dedication.
Nallo has already featured in both U21s games at the start of the season and has not been called up for senior training due to the head coach having a fully fit squad. However, he will continue to be a regular at the academy level throughout the season. As his development progresses, it will be interesting to see how Nallo further establishes himself as a promising talent in Liverpool’s centre-back ranks.
