Liverpool’s Premier League run-in has been confirmed following Arsenal’s exit from the Champions League. The Reds, who are currently two points behind leaders Manchester City, had one fixture subject to change depending on Arsenal’s progress in the European competition. However, Arsenal’s 3-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich means that Liverpool’s trip to West Ham on April 27 will go ahead as planned.
Before Arsenal’s exit, there was a possibility that Liverpool’s trip to West Ham would need to be rearranged from Saturday to Sunday. This would have been due to Arsenal potentially playing their Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday, April 30, and requesting their Premier League match to be moved. However, thanks to Joshua Kimmich’s goal that sealed Bayern Munich’s victory over Arsenal, Liverpool’s game against West Ham will kick off at 12.30pm on Saturday, April 27.
This news is a relief for Liverpool and their supporters. It means that they can now plan their travel arrangements without the fear of last-minute changes. However, it does leave the team with a short turnaround between away games. After playing Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday, April 24, Liverpool will have just under 65 hours before their match against West Ham.
Jurgen Klopp may have preferred the West Ham fixture to be rescheduled for his side’s benefit. Nevertheless, the final six league games are now set in stone for Liverpool. Out of these six matches, four are away games, and only two will be played at Anfield. This could pose a challenge for the team as they try to maintain their title challenge.
Liverpool will need to rediscover their form if they want to keep the title race alive until the final day. In their last three league fixtures, they have only managed to secure four points. With tough away matches against the likes of Everton, West Ham, and Aston Villa, Klopp’s side will have to be at their best to secure crucial wins.
Here is Liverpool’s remaining fixture list for the Premier League season:
– Fulham (A) – Saturday, April 21, 4.30pm
– Everton (A) – Wednesday, April 24, 8pm
– West Ham (A) – Saturday, April 27, 12.30pm
– Tottenham (H) – Saturday, May 5, 4.30pm
– Aston Villa (A) – Monday, May 13, 8pm
– Wolves (H) – Sunday, May 19, 4pm
With just six games left to play, Liverpool will have to give their all if they want to lift the Premier League trophy. The title race is still within reach for them, but they will need to perform consistently and overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
