Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark is generating attention from clubs both in England and abroad. The 19-year-old had an impressive breakthrough season, making 12 appearances and scoring his first senior goal. Despite a change in management at Liverpool, Clark’s prospects remain bright as new head coach Arne Slot shares a similar belief in promoting youth.
However, it is being considered whether Clark’s development would benefit from a loan spell in the 2024/25 season, potentially offering him a starting role. According to reports, at least three clubs are interested in acquiring the talented teenager.
Championship side Norwich and Red Bull-owned clubs RB Leipzig and Salzburg have all expressed interest in Clark. Of particular note is Salzburg, where former Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders is now the head coach. Lijnders has emphasized his desire to work with young talents and players who are eager to progress. Given Lijnders’ previous accolades for Clark during his time at Liverpool, it would come as no surprise if Salzburg pursued a loan deal for the young midfielder.
The relationship between Liverpool and Salzburg is strong, making negotiations for Clark’s loan move relatively straightforward. Furthermore, Vitor Matos, Liverpool’s new assistant manager, played a significant role in Clark’s development from the academy to the first team. These factors suggest that a loan move to Salzburg could be beneficial for Clark’s continued growth.
However, it remains uncertain whether Clark will be sent out on loan, as Slot has yet to finalize his squad for the upcoming season. Other Liverpool youngsters, such as James McConnell, have also garnered interest from various clubs. The likes of Hull, Blackburn, Derby, Huddersfield, and Birmingham are reportedly keen on McConnell. Clark’s potential suitors also include Derby, while Luke Chambers, Ben Doak, and Kaide Gordon are expected to attract attention as well.
The final decision on whether Clark and other Liverpool youngsters will be loaned out is likely to be made later in the summer. In the meantime, they will join Slot’s first group for pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre.
