Liverpool U21s Make History with First Ever EFL Trophy Win

Liverpool Under-21s made history on Tuesday night, as they secured their first ever win in the EFL Trophy with a 3-0 victory over League Two side Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium.

The Reds had endured 11 defeats in 12 previous fixtures in the competition, but Mateusz Musialowski, Calum Scanlon and Bobby Clark all found the net in the first half to secure the win.

A Night of Firsts for Liverpool U21s

The game was a night of firsts for the young Reds, with Clark making his first appearance for the U21s since joining from Everton in the summer. The inclusion of Clark meant that he will not travel to Austria as part of the Europa League squad on Wednesday.

Another player who may be in with a chance of a Europa appearance this season is Melkamu Frauendorf, who featured in pre-season for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Frauendorf was instrumental in the victory, assisting Musialowski’s opener and setting up Scanlon for the second.
