Two of England’s most successful football clubs, Liverpool and Manchester United, are set to face off in a Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday. However, the roles of the two teams have reversed since last season. Liverpool, who were on the hunt for four trophies last season, are now struggling to keep up with the pace and are fighting for a spot in the Europa League. Meanwhile, Manchester United is on a red-hot streak and is looking more like last season’s Liverpool.

Last season, Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup and reached the Champions League final. They also missed out on the Premier League after one of the most outrageous final-day comebacks ever from Manchester City. The Reds also beat United 9-0 across their two Premier League fixtures. This season, however, Liverpool’s form has been mixed, with the team winning three of their last four matches in the league but losing badly against Real Madrid and drawing against Crystal Palace.

On the other hand, Manchester United hasn’t lost a match since January 22, and even that was a 3-2 epic against league leaders Arsenal. The team’s red-hot form has lifted them into contention for the Premier League title, and they recently won the Carabao Cup, ending their near-six-year trophy drought.

The rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United is intense, as they are not only local rivals but also the two most successful clubs in English football history. However, with a changing of the guard already taking place, Manchester United goes into the match at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as undeniable favorites.

The star men for Liverpool will be Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will need to be switched on for the full 90 minutes to stop Marcus Rashford, Manchester United’s biggest threat. Rashford has contributed to 16 goals since the World Cup and defences across Europe have struggled to slow him down.

The match is expected to be entertaining, with both teams fighting for points. While it’s hard to see Manchester United losing, it won’t be an easy match in front of a fired-up Anfield. The game will kick off at 16:30 pm UK time and will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event.
