Liverpool v Southampton LIVE: Mo Salah closes in on Thierry Henry record as Nathan Jones takes charge of Saints in final Premier League game before World Cup break

Liverpool will give Nathan Jones a baptism of fire in his first game in charge of Southampton when the two sides meet this afternoon.

The Reds have suffered with inconsistency all season but will be hoping to head into the World Cup on the back of four successive wins.

Both sides needed a penalty shootout to reach the Carabao Cup fourth round in week, with Liverpool edging past Derby and Southampton eliminating Sheffield Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now return to Premier League action, looking to enter the World Cup on a high note and close the gap to the top four.

The Saints, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone and are desperate for a new manager bounce after appointing Jones to replace Ralph Hasenhuttl.

    • Premier League clash to take place on Saturday, November 12
