Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Plans Take a Serious Turn With Fabinho’s Departure Looming
Liverpool’s summer transfer plans have taken a serious turn with the departure of Fabinho now looming. The Reds attempted to sign Aurelien Tchouameni last summer before his move to Real Madrid, but it appears that the Frenchman is now unobtainable this summer.
Liverpool’s Pursuit of Tchouameni Last Summer
Last summer, Liverpool were the first to come forward for discussions with Tchouameni, but he ultimately decided to move to the Bernabeu. Liverpool did not pursue another midfielder, a decision they would later regret.
Tchouameni had a difficult first year in Spain, leading to speculation that he could be tempted away and Liverpool could go back in for the player. However, both Real Madrid and Tchouameni himself do not see it that way.
Other Potential Targets for Liverpool
Dominic King stated on Twitter that Tchouameni is “unobtainable” this summer, and journalist Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Real Madrid want to keep him. Tchouameni has also liked a Twitter post stating he is not for sale this summer.
It is unfortunate that it did not work out last summer as the France international would have slotted seamlessly into Jurgen Klopp’s side and would have been an upgrade on Fabinho.
Liverpool are now looking at other potential targets to fill the midfield mould. Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy and a host of Merseyside journalists have all name-checked Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, Bayern’s Ryan Gravenberch, Man City’s Kalvin Phillips and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as possible options for Liverpool.
Conclusion
This summer has really taken a turn, and Liverpool will be busy at work identifying alternative targets to fit the desirable midfield mould. With Fabinho’s departure looming, it looks like Liverpool’s summer transfer plans have taken a serious turn.
