Liverpool U21s Win After Ben Doak Solo Stunner

Date:

Ben Doak’s boot secured a 1-0 win for Liverpool Under-21s against West Ham in the Premier League 2 at the AXA Training Centre on April 22, 2023. The 17-year-old scored the only goal of the game, latching onto Rhys Williams’ long ball and slaloming around several West Ham defenders before cooly sliding the ball into the back of the net. Doak’s debut season at Liverpool has seen him make appearances for the first team and score an impressive 12 goals at youth level.

Williams’ assist was coupled with confident defending to keep the Hammers at bay, and he was supported by a strong U21s side, with eight members of the starting XI having senior Liverpool appearances to their name. Tom Hill was introduced with only minutes left as he continues to slowly get back up to speed after a four-month injury layoff.

The narrow victory for the young Reds snapped a run of three games without victory, and now only two matches remain on their schedule for 2022/23. Liverpool U21s will face Fulham away on Sunday, April 30, 12pm (BST).
