Liverpool transfer news: Salah makes commitment but Mane comment will worry fans, Mbappe held talks with the Reds, Tchouameni decision, Carvalho latest

Liverpool have been urged to react to Erling Haaland joining Manchester City by spending big in the summer transfer market.

The Reds fell one point short of Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League title race and will now need to go again next season.

Liverpool are still City’s closest rivals, and according to Jamie O’Hara, the signing of Haaland has to spark a reaction from Jurgen Klopp’s side to ensure that they can keep pace with the league leaders.

Here, talkSPORT.com runs through some of the biggest rumours surrounding incomings and outgoings the Anfield club…

    Kylian Mbappe

The Frenchman has revealed he spoke to Liverpool about a potential transfer before committing to Paris-Saint-Germain.

Mbappe angered Real Madrid by committing his immediate future to the French champions and signing a new contract, but the Reds were also in the mix to sign him – albeit rather briefly.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit.”

Mbappe added: “I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her.

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”

    Aurelien Tchouameni

The Monaco midfielder is thought to have agreed personal terms with both Liverpool and Real Madrid.

But unfortunately for the Reds, French journalist Julien Maynard tweeted: “Aurélien Tchouameni has chosen Real Madrid.

“That’s according to the The Monaco midfielder has already announced his departure to his teammates.”

However, Tchouameni himself told CNN: “It’s a good situation to be in […] But at the end it’s just social media!”

    Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has confirmed the club’s desire to extend the contracts of the superstar duo.

Both Salah and Mane are entering the final 12 months of their deals this summer, and the latter has strongly been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

“I’d like to keep those conversations confidential but obviously we’ve articulated our desire that they remain,” Werner told the Athletic .

“Beyond that, I’ll leave that to Julian.”

Ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League final with Real Madrid, Salah confirmed he would be at the club next season regardless.

He said: “I am staying next season for sure, that’s clear.”

Mane meanwhile was much more coy, telling Sky Sports News: “I will answer the question [about my future] after the Champions League.

“I’m not saying yes or no, I will answer after the Champions League.”

    Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool completed the signing of Carvalho earlier this week after agreeing a £7.7 million deal with Fulham.

The 19-year-old was one of the standout performers in the Championship, with 10 goals and eight assists last season.

Fulham attempted to take Carvalho back on loan due to Liverpool’s extensive competition for places in attacking areas.

Yet Fabrizio Romano revealed the Reds won’t let Carvalho leave as Jurgen Klopp sees him involved with the first-team soon.
