Liverpool Training Squad: 27 Players Confirmed, Trent and Szobo Absent
Liverpool began their pre-Brentford preparations at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday, with some key players missing from the squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai were notably absent as the team resumed training after two days off. However, there were plenty of positive developments for Jurgen Klopp and his staff, with the return of Mohamed Salah and other key players.
Salah, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury, was able to rejoin team training. This comes as a relief for Liverpool fans, as the Egyptian forward has missed the last five games for both club and country. While it remains to be seen if Salah will be fit to start the next game, the expectation is that he will at least be on the bench when Liverpool faces Brentford.
Joining Salah in training were goalkeeper Alisson and defender Joe Gomez, who missed the team’s recent 3-1 win over Burnley due to illness. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and forward Diogo Jota also returned after shaking off minor complaints. Another notable presence was Conor Bradley, who made his return to Merseyside after a period of absence following the passing of his father.
The absence of Alexander-Arnold raises some concerns for Liverpool. The right-back appears to be sidelined with a knee problem, which could potentially require 20-year-old Bradley to start against Brentford. However, there is still time before Saturday’s kickoff, and it remains to be seen if Alexander-Arnold will recover in time.
Apart from these absences, there were no new injury concerns for Liverpool. Thiago, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak were the only other absentees from the training session. Despite the return of senior players, Klopp and his staff made sure to involve a large contingent of youngsters in the training session. Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns, both 18-year-old forwards, have been in impressive form in the academy and have earned their place in the senior squad.
Other young players present in the training session included Bobby Clark, James McConnell, Kaide Gordon, and goalkeepers Fabian Mrozek and Kornel Misciur. This emphasis on youth development highlights Liverpool’s commitment to nurturing talent from within their ranks.
The full squad pictured in training on Tuesday consisted of:
Goalkeepers: Alisson, Kelleher, Adrian, Mrozek, Misciur
Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Quansah, Robertson, Bradley, Tsimikas
Midfielders: Mac Allister, Jones, Endo, Elliott, Gravenberch, Clark, McConnell
Forwards: Salah*, Nunez, Jota, Diaz, Gakpo, Gordon, Koumas, Danns
* Salah was participating in early team training
Not pictured in the training session were Alexander-Arnold, Szoboszlai, Thiago, Matip, Bajcetic, and Doak.
As Liverpool continues their preparations for the upcoming game against Brentford, fans eagerly await updates on the fitness of key players like Salah and Alexander-Arnold. With a strong squad at their disposal and promising young talents emerging, Liverpool remains a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
